Upswing!!!

The morning was pretty sad, but elly m. came around this afternoon and ate some crackers and drank a sufficient amount of juice to bring herself a step closer to her normal self. it is so scary with little ones when they are sick. i couldn't make her do anything. and when i did, it came right back up. but now i just hope little miss ruthie doesn't get it. or me or jonathan for that matter. but anyhow.. elly m. is on the upswing and i am happy about that. and i got like 11 hours of sleep last night, that really helps.

Dr. appt.

Well, they told me the same thing the e.r. told me. it is a virus. wait it out. give her teaspoonfuls of water until she can keep it down. she has lost quite a bit of weight...eek. they said that sometimes it just takes a long time to fight these things off. she did drink a little and eat a cracker on the way there and then puke it up in the dr. office. if she pukes some more bring her back tomorrow. poor little elly m. is sleeping right now....keep you updated... but it is just a virus i think she will be alright.. i am just a worried momma bear as jonathan or the e.r. nurses would say.

Elly Märta is SICK, SICK, Sick

Elly M. got sick on Saturday night... threw her guts up sat. night and sunday and monday. i took her to the e.r. on monday evening due to dehydration. They gave her an i.v. with fluids and tested her for any infections.i am having a very difficult time getting her to drink anything. i am giving her like a teaspoon at a time and she is even having a difficult time keeping that down. She has also had watery poops. i would say her system is clear, but it is wednesday and everything i got her to drink last night came back up again. i am taking her to the doctor today at 11, i am just not sure what to do with her. she does not want to drink or eat. Just wanted to let everyone know about this, especially those across the ocean in sweden. please pray for little elly m. she is so sick. i'll put an update after the dr. appt. today. they told me in the e.r. it was a virus. these viruses are frustrating.. because you just have to live through them. eeekla.. anyways.

Wow... what a weekend

filled with romance and love and oodles of kisses and hugs.. or i mean filled with dr. appt's., rashes, high fevers, puke, runny poop and no stinkin' sleep. wow.. for those of you out there dreaming of having children and thinking it won't change life much.. think again. it changes everything. but usually in a good way. but to our dismay this was as i would define it.. "a rough weekend". it started friday with an appt. to get elly m.'s but looked at. she had a pretty gross looking rash on her butt and then it moved into sat. ruthie waking up with a swollen face on saturday.. and going to bed that night with elly m. throwing up all over the place... three loads of laundry later.. we were tucked in tight to an all night throw up session. i am sure i have ti coming soon, but miserable. i have yet to see elly m. sleep this much her entire life. she is exhausted. so also on sunday.. ruthie's eyes were pretty swollen, so i took her to urgent care. extremely dry skin causes eyes to swell.....who would of known???? my goodness i am so thankful to have jonathan.. i couldn't of done this weekend without him. he is such a help when stuff like this comes up... so today is monday and we start all over again.. apply cream three or 5 times daily and clean up puke as it happens... maybe this next weekend will be better.

6 months old....

Ruthie is officially six months old last week... it has been a pretty chaotic week at the Schmit household. I am not usually a freak about taking my kids to the doctor, but this week i felt like it. I took ruthie a day before her 6th month appt. because she started to pull and itch her ears a lot and she just seemed over all unhappy. but no ear infection thankfully. but why is she scratching so much is the thought i though to myself in the middle of the night awake with her over and over and over again. and as the days progressed a rash begin to show up all over her face and head underneath her hair and the itching continued. and i am kind of freaking here. i have to quit looking stuff up on the internet. it really just gets me in trouble. anyways. i took her to a friend of ours deborah and she declared that she had extremely dry skin. so the soaking in moisturizer began saturday afternoon, but so did elly m's puking binges. back to ruthie... she weighs...21 lbs. 4 oz. and is 25 inches long. not to compare, but to compare.. to her older sister.. at 18 months.. weighs 24 lbs. and is 34 inches long. huh.. it seems as though elly m. right now might have the better genes in the family, but ruthie is still little and just started crawling so she may or should start slowing down on the weight gain. her accomplishments thus far in life include being able to get around the house on her belly and trying to crawl the right way most of the time. she does have a big sister to keep up with. she has three teeth offically today, but not the middle top one.. one over from the middle top one. the girl can't do anything normally. reminds me of some people i know.. maybe her mom and dad. must run in the genes...anyways.. there is the low down on little miss ruthie britches... so cute.. SO ACTIVE...and so fun.

Ruthie's first swing.... ever..

I didn't think with number two that i would be so on the ball about first things, but i still find that i enjoy every one of ruthie's first things. so today was her first time down the slide and her first time to swing. it is much easier to take them both to the park when jonathan is there.... otherwise.. i am too nervous chasing elly m. around to do much with ruthie. they keep me busy.... but they both seem to love the park... i am so glad because i do too.

We couldn't help but go outside today..as you can see the temps. were high enough to go without coats and sandals on... yipee... looking forward to warmer days... so much looking forward to it. i think it just makes everyone so much happier. also aren't my husband and children very cute. i can't get over how cute they are some times... good thing i am the wife and mother huh???

baby aaron came over

Bella's litte aaron got to come over last thursday and hang out with us. it was fun to have him. elly m. seemed to sort of enjoy him more than her sister.. maybe because he is much more laid back than ruthie. he is such a joy to have around. we could have him anytime. also who doesn't love to lick the beaters.. as you can see little elly m. does and the hat.. well..... aunt bella gave elly m. that and anything aunt bella does is admired by little miss elly m. so the hat stays on a lot of the time...

Elly M.'s hold you...

I am sure that every child goes through a phase in life where they for one want to be held all the time and two say it... all the time. i will find elly m. playing in her room saying the words: "hold you" to herself and she often says them to me as i am holding her. i am wondering if she wants to crawl back into the womb... another funny thing she has been doing lately.. well two things. almost every morning when i go in to get her out of her bed... i am carrying ruthie.. and she will motion with a pat of her hand in her bed and say "sister sit" so i put ruthie in her bed with her, but elly m. doesn't usually stay long... it is her ploy to get me to "hold me"... one more thing that has been hilarious.. that i need to get on film... i always tell her to "come" and motion with my hands... so now i will randomly see her talking to the cat and motioning with her hands while saying "come dat... come" thinking that the cat should listen to her... it is also funny when she does the same thing to me... i can't help but laugh as i see me coming out in her expression... so silly sometimes.

Isn't this hilarious? my mom sent me some pictures so that i could show the world how much elly m. looks like me, this picture isn't the main one that shows how much she looks like me.... but jonathan has an ongoing joke with my mom that i looked like a groundhog when i was little... so when i put the pics. on iphoto today... to much funniness... this is what i found.

Our little bruiser...

Well.... i can't believe we have made it this far in elly m.'s life without a big fall, but she fell today.... down our cement steps. I think it hurt her pretty bad. She cried for a quite a few minutes... the world kind of stopped for me.. i was kind of scared as she laid there on the bottom step. but a few minutes into it, i evaluated the damage done and realized it wasn't that bad..maybe more scary. and i said.. "do you wanna go see bella and olivia?" she immediately quit crying and wanted to go bye-bye. her and olivia have such a relationship. i guess it is how cousins behave at this age. i think olivia is preparing little elly m. for ruthie soon. olivia right now is the one that can make her laugh the most and probably the one thaat can make her the most angry. I do believe ruthie and olivia will do this for elly m. her whole life. so precious to watch children grown in relationships with each other.
