6 weeks old..

the smiles have started, but catching them on film is a completely different idea. i tried today and i will try tomorrow. here you go though, this will have to do for now. she is growing like a WEED. it is so crazy how fast they grow and change. they are so great though.

the latest of elly m.

here are a few of just elly m. she is hilarious sometimes. i can remember the desperate pleas with my mom to let her know that what i wanted was top notch importance at the time, but elly m. goes very far with this. she is hilarious... can you not see how desperate she is to get down. so funny.

the other one is what her hair looks like by the middle of the day, even though she has had a bath the night before. and for those of you who want to see the baby she sleeps with at night, that white poofy thing she is holding is it.

close eye...

i just can't keep near the close eye on elly m. that i used to be able to, but it sure does lead to a lot of cute pictures. what a fun age, one year olds are so much fun.

Aunt Heidi and Uncle Manne from Sweden are here!!!

Uncle Manne and Aunt Heidi have been here for a little over 2 weeks, but i am absolutly horrible about taking pictures of the girls with people for some reason. i guess the camera is super handy around the house, but one more thing in the full diaper bag and my goodness it weighs more than my first born child these days. oh, what a fun time in life when your diaper bag is filled to the max!!!! i will look back on these days and wonder.. how did i do that???

anyhow... we went to the hunky dory little ol' bluegrass festival today where the small town drunk makes a fool of himself and the good ol' boys break out their banjos. it was fun. very fun actually. elly m. enjoyed every minute of it. so here are some photos of the fun.

Auntie M's genes

There really is never a moment's peace in our house at this point. i cut jonathan's hair yesterday, finished it today and while we were in the bathroom elly m. climbed into the tub to read her book. i didn't know she could climb or fall for better words into the tub. but lo and behold, just like her auntie m... she loves to take baths. my mom always told us that my little sister emily used to love to jump into the bathtub with anyone that was in there. getting angry if she couldn't, well her little niece is the same way. she gets pretty perturbed if i say no to her joining me in the shower these days, and now it looks like it will be very hard to keep her out, clothes and all.

Auntie Em'

dare to compare???

You know they are two totally different people. i can tell that they have two totally different personalities.... which probably means they can be best friends??? i mean isn't it true that opposites attract. little high strung (similar to her mommy) elly märta, and little content (similar to her daddy) ruthie should play very very well together, which of course is the mother's hope.

anyways. i put little ruthie in an old outfit of elly m.'s and i got angry about breastfeeding with elly m. all over again. she looks like a victim of anorexia or something.. her little neck is so thin and no meat on her bones. how sad. i am still so mad about the fact that she starved her first almost 2 months of life. ERRRRR. i looked at her baby book, and she was not even back up to her birth weight by the time she was a month old. little ruthie gained 3 pounds by her one month appt. but it is okay. elly m. is fine now i keep telling myself. but that time of life was so frustrating. this time breastfeeding is so much easier and of course the circumstances are much easier this time. so here are some pics of elly m. when she was this little. i don't think they really look anything alike. ruthie is so round and elly m. is so oval. i don't know ... do i dare compare????

2 weekends ago....

Two weekends ago, we went with the Whites, Schmits, and the Murphy's to the picwick lake to stay in the white's cabin. it is always a good time and this time it was also. there were a few more arguments than normal, but expected when family spends the weekend together right??? anyways... elly m. went on her first jet ski ride and her being the wild child that she is, you can tell she totally enjoyed it... yep... yo got that right, she fell fast asleep about 2 minutes into the ride. i don't think i have ever seen jonathan nervous about anything since we have been parents, but he says to me from the back "is she past that shaken' baby syndrome yet?" hilarious. i mean who falls asleep their first ride on a jet ski. anyways... the rest of the weekend was fun, but elly m. had a horrible time sleeping. actually she has had a horrible time sleeping in general lately. ruthie sleeps great though. i guess elly m. feels as though she has to make up for ruthie's lack of waking up. silly girl.

Sooooooo Sweet!!

Little Ruthie has been nothing but sweet since the moment she was born. Here are a few sweet pics. of her sleeping, which she still does a lot of. I took her to her first doctor's appt. and she has gained some weight. she was born at 8 lbs. 9 oz. and is now up to 11 lbs. 4 oz. at her four week appt. She has surpassed all the charts for her age, you can't help but be proud of the little squash ball. she is our little harvest squash. she hasn't quite stretched out yet, she still likes to curl up in a little ball. so sweet.

little presents!!!

Elly Märta has had a rough couple of weeks with being sick and then getting a cold and then getting all 4 of those stupid pointy teeth. Then we went to picwic for the weekend with the family and she had "panic attacks" while trying to go to sleep. so sleep eluded us until about 2:30 a.m. the first night, and then midnight the second night, so we are officially playing catch up on sleep this week. but today elly märta felt like she had found tons of little presents behind the rocking chair. she just looked so happy back there opening the little bundles!! what a funny little thing.

Three weeks old... yesterday!

Okay, so i can say this because i am the mother. little ruthie has sort of a little squash body... and three chins that hold old nasty rotten milk a little too much for my liking, but she will definitely have to enjoy baths, because this girl doesn't have a choice... she gets stinnnnnnnnnkkkkkyyyyy sometimes. whew-e. anyways... she has her first official cold and just plain doesn't like it, but she continues to be a very pleasant baby and content a good portion of the time. we seem to be adjusting much faster to the 2nd child then the shocking idea of the first.....

Three

Rainy day

It was a rainy day today in our neck of the woods.... but we found plenty to do, considering both of my childs have colds today and jonathan has something. something so bad, he had to put on a hat to keep warm and lay on the couch with a blanket, by the way we even turned the air up to 75!!!! anyhow... elly märta continues to be sweet to little ruthie, it is only her and i that can't seem to see eye to eye all the time, but we will soon. i am extremely tired of sickness, i wish that it would just end, but you know when they are done being sick.. you know who is next... me i am sure.
